Hey Blog,
It's been long, eh? I was unwell, busy with work and family so was a little ignorant towards you. But now here I am and how. I am going to be writing about something I learnt during this time away from you.
I would like to start off by with the saying 'Health is Wealth' is cliche because of the truth to it. If our body and mind doesn't support, our daily activities might suffer. So how to keep ourselves healthy? I have come across 3 mantras, which are in our control, that affect our health everyday: Diet, Sleep and Water Intake.
Factors like environment, lifestyle, etc. are uncontrollable and hence we can't do much about them. What we can do is ensure we intake the correct nutrition requirement, sleep for the required amount of time and drink plenty of water.
We've all come across articles and doctors telling us to drink at least 2-3 litres of water everyday, which is true because water is the main component that helps throw out toxic waste from our body. And when the waste is flushed out, the body is going to feel better. Stomach related problems, skin problems, hair problems, are all related to how much water you intake.
Secondly, sleep is the most important factor contributing to your overall well-being. Ideal sleep should be of minimum 8 hours but anywhere between 6 hours to 10 hours is deemed suitable depending on your body requirement. This period is required by your body to rest up and prepare itself for the next day. Your body is constantly working like a machine when you are awake and it needs to relax from time to time.
Lastly, another important facet towards a healthy life is your diet. Balanced, nutritional and a complete diet is something which should be eaten on a daily basis. Our body is made up of various organs that require different kinds of fuel to work smoothly. Proteins, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, etc are some of the necessary dietary components that, when taken in the right proportion act towards the successful repairing of your body. The actual nutritional requirements of our body are very beautifully explained in a simple 'Balanced Diet Pyramid' by the Harvard University. Noted down is a brief summary of the same (daily basis): (1 serving = 16-20 grams)
1. Vegetables and Fruits - 4-5 servings each
2. Whole Grains - 4-8 servings
3. Plant Oils - 3-4 serving
4. Legumes - 1-2 servings
5. Nuts & Seeds - 1-2 servings
6. Water - 8 glasses minimum
7. Eggs, Fish, Poultry and Plant Proteins - 1-2 servings
8. Dairy, Soy Milk/Calcium Supplement - 1-2 servings
9. Multi-Vitamins
10. Limited intake of red meat, butter, white rice, white bread, soda or any other high glycemic foods (high in carbohydrates/sugar)
11. Plenty of exercise
While on paper, all this sounds easy but when you actually try to incorporate the entire balanced diet pyramid in your daily diet intake, it is a little impractical, thanks to our lifestyle.
Here we can take help from organic health and nutrition supplements. These food supplements are made with an aim to satisfy our body's daily nutritional needs.
Go in for a complete health check up to know your body's basic requirements, approach a nutritionist and ask him or her about how you can make your diet nutritionally rich. But always remember, protein, omega 3 fats and vitamins-minerals; daily intake with help you enrich your and your family's health to new levels!
Cheers and Ta-Ta :)
Love,
